Amazon Web Services Inc. (AWS), has made its certification for DevOps engineers public.
AWS created the certification to meet customer demand for cloud computing skills in the DevOps field. As defined by Wikipedia, DevOps “is a software development method that stresses communication, collaboration (information sharing and Web service usage), integration, automation and measurement of cooperation between software developers and other information-technology (IT) professionals.”
The “AWS Certified DevOps Engineer Professional” certification was introduced last November. It is designed to help IT professionals prove their skills and help employers find qualified IT pros.
Yesterday’s blog post by Jeff Barr, a company executive, stated that the AWS Certified DevOps Engineer is the next step on the path for SysOps Administrators and AWS Certified Developers. It validates technical competence in managing, operating, and provisioning distributed applications on the AWS platform. This exam is designed to identify individuals who can implement and manage systems that are highly available, scalable and self-healing on AWS. Before you can take this exam, you must be AWS Certified Developer – Associate or AWS Certified SysOps Administrator Associate.
