How to Install Joomla in 5 Easy Steps
Joomla is a good CMS platform for use in any website. It supports dynamic content and lots of powerful online applications. This script is free and is an open source, making it a very useful content management system over the world wide web.
To install Joomla on your web site, it is best that you utilize the Fantastico script that’s available on your hosting Control Panel. The first step is to log-in and look for the Fantastico Icon. It’s usually the blue smiley icon on the web host’s control panel. Click on the icon and then follow these steps:
1. On the Fantastico home navigation page, find Joomla on the list appearing on the left panel. Click on it.
2. The right panel will shift to the Joomla window. Click on New Installation.
3. A new page will show up and it looks like a form asking for lots of information. You’ll be asked about these things:
a. Installation directory – type the folder name where you’d like the script installed. If you want to put Joomla on the home page, just leave the field blank.
b. Admin data – this pertains to the username and password to be used to access Joomla’s admin panel. From there you can tweak, update, and improve the appearance of your site. Set the username and password that you’d like to use here.
c. Email address – Just in case you forgot the username and password that you have assigned to the installation, you can reset it through this email address. You will also receive updates on your site here.
d. Admin full name – the administrator’s full name or simply, your name.
e. Site name – the name you have for your site. It will be displayed on Joomla’s front page.
4. Click on Install Joomla.
