If you want to start blogging, you are going to need a good web blogging program. Right now, WordPress is the most popular one. Most web hosts offer this script along with their services. To make sure about that, you can contact them directly or simply check your hosting control panel.
Assuming that you’ve already got your domain registered and properly hosted on the server, you can follow these steps in installing WordPress:
A. The 5-Minute Install
This installation is applicable if your web host supports WordPress on their server. To make it run, just do the following:
1. Log-in to the Control Panel.2. Look for the Fantastico script icon under the Content Management category.3. Select WordPress from the list.4. Click install.5. Type the folder where you want the script to be placed. If you don’t type anything, WordPress will be on your home page.6. Type the title you’d like for your blog.7. Supply your email address and set the administrator username and password.8. Complete the installation.9. Check your homepage. It should now show the default WordPress layout.
B. The Manual Method
Do this only if your server doesn’t support WordPress installation or if it doesn’t have Fantastico scripts available:
1. Download the WordPress installer from WordPress.com2. Upload it on your web hosting service through FTP.3. Create a MySQL database for your blog.4. Extract the WordPress file and install.5. Type the MySQL information that you have created.6. Follow Steps 5-9 as listed above
