Christine Kane has tagged me. This means I have to think of five reasons why I blog. After not much thought, these are my reasons.
1. Because I wrote a book
Many bloggers start with web publishing, then move on to traditional publishing in the Petite Anglaise (or Random Acts of Reality) ways. I did the opposite. It may not seem very altruistic but I wanted somewhere where I could promote my book and also discuss topics that didn’t make it into the book. The research I did was not published and the research that I am currently doing may not be.
2. Because of the connections
Although I could have stopped blogging after my book was published more than a year ago this blog is still going strong. I’ve met interesting people, and been invited to participate in some very interesting activities that I wouldn’t have otherwise.
3. Because project management needs demystifying
Many PMs want to keep their methods of project management secret. If you have ever managed a project, it is likely that you have organized a party or moved homes. It is a job and not something that we do naturally. This blog was created because project management is so connected to our daily lives.
4. Because most voices are male
They have valuable information to share. However, I have found that most organizations I have worked with have a high number of female project managers. Where are we today in the internet world? While I hope that everyone who visits this blog finds something of value, my goal is to provide a female-centric perspective about project management.
5. Because I am a writer, regular readers will also know this information. This will be the last time this is mentioned in this post. I also write magazine articles and serve on [email protected]’s editorial boards. Writing this blog helps me organize my thoughts and focus my thoughts. It forces me to write (sometimes everything). This is a great discipline to writers.
This is why I blog. It’s not about whether you read it. That’s a different story.
